Why pull-down faucets cause trouble
The removable spray head moves on a retractable hose and often lacks the stable threaded aerator used by a standard countertop diverter. Weight, hose movement and proprietary threads can make an adapter awkward or unsupported.
A fitting that can be forced onto the head is not necessarily a safe daily connection. Leaks, reduced retraction and warranty questions are reasons to use a dedicated feed.

Best practical route: a side faucet
HyLine’s $99.95 side faucet provides a separate small spout beside the main faucet while Hybrid H2 remains on the counter. The ionizer hose connects to that dedicated outlet rather than the pull-down head.
Confirm how the faucet is supplied, the required hole and whether the counter or sink deck can be drilled. The machine still occupies counter space and visible tubing remains part of the layout.
Best hidden route: under the counter
The $249.95 HyLine under-counter faucet is designed for a cleaner dedicated-water presentation. It can be the better choice when the household is willing to pay for professional installation and has adequate cabinet space.
Ask how Hybrid H2 is controlled in the proposed hidden arrangement. The current product image does not replace a model-specific installation drawing.
Use an existing hole when possible
A former soap dispenser, filtered-water faucet or unused accessory opening may reduce drilling. Measure the hole and surrounding clearance and have the installer confirm compatibility with the chosen faucet.
Do not remove an accessory until the replacement plan is complete. Stone, porcelain and metal surfaces require different drilling decisions, and the installer should own that scope.
No-drill renters and restricted kitchens
A renter should not drill or alter plumbing without written permission. If the main faucet is incompatible and no approved removable connection exists, the right answer may be a countertop batch RO system or another non-plumbed product rather than an ionizer.
Do not route permanent tubing through a cabinet or counter as a workaround without approval. Reversibility and leak responsibility matter more than preserving the ionizer shortlist.
Photographs to send before ordering
Take one photo of the full sink, one of the faucet head and aerator area, one under the sink showing shutoffs and one of the intended counter or cabinet position. Add measurements and the faucet model if known.
Ask HyLine to identify the supported route and exact required parts in writing. A generic “universal adapter” answer is not enough for a high-ticket machine.

Budget the complete route
The current machine plus side faucet totals $2,794.95 before labor, tax and pretreatment. Machine plus under-counter faucet totals $2,944.95. A new hole, supply valve or cabinet work adds local labor.
Use those totals only as a product-price starting point. Request a written scope and keep the cost of any water-specific prefilter separate.
Do not forget service access
The final layout must allow filter replacement, cleaning, leak inspection and machine removal. A beautiful hidden installation that requires dismantling plumbing for every service is poor ownership design.
Ask the installer to demonstrate shutoff, normal operation and removal. Photograph the finished tubing and keep the part numbers in the home water file.
Our final recommendation
Choose the side faucet when cost and easy access matter more than hiding the machine. Choose the under-counter route when appearance and counter space justify professional work.
Choose neither when the kitchen cannot support an approved dedicated connection. Do not risk an improvised adapter to preserve a preferred product.
