Your 5-year budget
Option 1
$700.00
Upfront $300.00 · Replacements $400.00 · Other costs $0.00
Example cartridge: 10 replacements at months 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, 60.
Option 2
$700.00
Upfront $400.00 · Replacements $300.00 · Other costs $0.00
Example cartridge: 5 replacements at months 12, 24, 36, 48, 60.
Difference: $0.00. Lower spending does not establish equivalent filtration or a better purchase.
How the calculation works
Equipment + installation + all scheduled replacements + annual other costs × years. Each replacement count is the whole number of intervals within the period. A replacement due exactly at month 12, 36 or 60 is included; this sets aside money for that due-date purchase. The initial cartridges are assumed included in the equipment price.
Example: $200 equipment + $100 installation + ten $40 replacements over five years + $0 other costs = $700. This is a fixed-price budgeting convention, not a forecast or an exact service schedule. It does not model inflation, unexpected repairs or actual filter exhaustion. Include known additional costs yourself.
Follow the exact model’s time, volume and other replacement triggers. Heavy use may require earlier changes. The month input is your budgeting assumption—not a recommendation to extend filter life.
