The four installation routes

The common routes are a diverter on a compatible main faucet, a separate side faucet feeding a countertop machine, a hidden under-counter installation with a dedicated faucet, or a manufacturer-approved custom connection. Each creates a different labor and usability profile.

Do not order the machine first and solve the faucet afterward. Send photographs and dimensions before checkout so the quoted route matches the actual kitchen.

Countertop connection cost

When the supplied adapter fits, the product cost may be limited to the machine and any approved small parts. The tradeoff is visible tubing, counter space and the need to operate the faucet and diverter correctly.

A pull-down, pull-out, sensor or unusual faucet may not accept a normal adapter. An unapproved improvised fitting can leak or create a warranty problem, so a “free installation” assumption is unsafe until compatibility is confirmed.

Dedicated side-faucet cost

HyLine’s side faucet is currently $99.95 before installation. It keeps the ionizer on the counter but gives it a separate water feed, which can help when the main faucet is unsuitable.

The product price does not include drilling, a new supply valve or labor. Confirm whether an existing accessory hole can be used and whether the faucet finish and hose arrangement work in daily use.

Under-sink installation cost

HyLine’s under-counter faucet is currently $249.95 and its page recommends professional installation. Add cabinet clearance, drilling, water supply work, electrical access and a service path for filters.

Hiding the appliance is valuable only when controls and maintenance remain usable. Ask the installer to show how water type is selected, how cleaning runs and how the machine can be removed without dismantling the sink cabinet.

Pretreatment can exceed the faucet cost

An advanced prefilter adds $349.95 at current HyLine pricing before cartridges and installation. Hard-water treatment or contaminant-specific treatment can add substantially more. Keep this work separate in the quote so you can see what protects the ionizer and what treats the drinking water.

If the installer proposes multiple housings, request the exact cartridge names, replacement cost, clearance and expected pressure after the filters.

What a complete quote should include

A useful quote identifies the connection route, all parts, drilling responsibility, water shutoff work, electrical work, cabinet modifications, commissioning, leak testing, cleanup and warranty for labor. It should also say what is excluded.

Ask who is responsible if the countertop material cracks, an existing shutoff fails or the manufacturer rejects the configuration. These are scope questions, not reasons to assume a problem will occur.

When installation should stop the purchase

Pause when the installer and manufacturer disagree, the required hole cannot be approved, the cabinet blocks filter changes, pressure is uncertain or the only plan uses an improvised connection. A discount does not make those issues smaller.

Choose a different faucet route, another treatment format or no ionizer. A clean installation that the household can service is part of product fit, not an optional finishing detail.
